Searching for the Elusive “Best Fit”

There are literally thousands and thousands of microcontrollers on the market today.  Finding the best MCU for your next project can be a daunting task if specifications, functionality, package size, power consumption, communications, etc. must all be met.

Vendor-supplied parametric search tools barely begin to help in this endeavor. They only go so far as they are greatly limited in their search capabilities since their parametric data is sadly lacking in standard expression. 

If time were not a concern for the Design Engineer, one could use the vendor-supplied parametric search tools along with examining the thousands of datasheets they provide (some containing more than a thousand pages each) to find the one ultimate part ~ “the best fit”.   

In reality, Design Engineers have only enough time to find a part that will functionally do the job but will never know if it is the optimum one or even close to it.

This is where Gopher excels

· Gopher typically has more than two to ten times the searchable parametric data than is available from vendor-supplied search tools.

· Gopher can search parametric data not only from a single vendor but from any combination/number of selected vendors simultaneously.

· Gopher  automatically eliminates parts which do not fit the functional requirements.  It also eliminates parts that have the functional capability but not the number of I/O pins to simultaneously support those functions.

Interacting with the Gopher program is simple but the results are all-inclusive.
